Mold Remediation

About Mold Remediation

Mold remediation is the process of removing, cleaning, and treating mold-contaminated areas to restore a safe and healthy environment. Unlike general cleaning or DIY methods, professional remediation involves isolating affected areas, eliminating moisture sources, safely removing mold, and preventing regrowth.

At MJC Environmental LLC, we go beyond surface-level fixes. We identify the root cause of mold growth, treat the affected areas using industry-standard methods, and ensure your property is safe, dry, and mold-free.

Importance of Mold Remediation

Mold is persistent and often much more widespread than it appears on the surface. Attempting to remove mold without proper containment or tools can actually worsen the problem, releasing spores into the air and spreading contamination.

Here’s why professional mold remediation is critical:

  • Health & Safety: Mold exposure can trigger asthma, allergies, and respiratory conditions, especially in children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems.
  • Proper Containment: We use containment barriers and negative air pressure systems to prevent cross-contamination during removal.
  • Thorough Removal: We treat not just the visible mold, but the underlying moisture problem that caused it.
  • Certified Techniques: Our team follows IICRC S520 standards for mold remediation, ensuring safe and effective results.
  • Property Protection: Prevent long-term structural damage, staining, and odor caused by hidden mold.

Our Mold Remediation Process

1. Initial Assessment: If we haven’t already conducted a mold inspection, we begin by assessing the scope of the contamination, moisture source, and impacted materials.

2. Containment Setup: To prevent mold spores from spreading, we set up critical containment using physical barriers, HEPA filtration, and negative air machines.

3. Mold Removal & Material Disposal: We remove contaminated materials that cannot be salvaged (such as drywall or insulation) and treat salvageable surfaces with EPA-registered antimicrobials and fungicides.

4. Air Filtration & Cleaning: Our HEPA vacuums and air scrubbers clean the air of mold spores and debris. We also clean and sanitize surrounding areas, including HVAC systems if needed.

5. Moisture Control & Prevention: We identify and address the moisture source — whether it’s a leak, high humidity, or poor ventilation — and may recommend structural repairs or dehumidification.

6. Final Verification & Clearance:Once remediation is complete, we perform a final visual inspection and, if requested, post-remediation air testing to verify that mold levels are safe.
